Our Story

In 2008, a small team planted a church near UT Austin with one vision. They wanted to build an Acts 2 church in every college town, the kind you read about in the book of Acts, where people were devoted to God's word, to each other, and to a shared life.

You decide a lot of your life in college. What you believe. Who you become. Who you spend your twenties with. That felt like the right place to start.

What began as that church plant is now Catalyst, a church for college students in West Campus, two blocks off the Drag. The vision has only gotten clearer. We're here to launch lifelong kingdom workers out of UT Austin.

You'll find every kind of student here. Some grew up in church. Some are asking real questions about Jesus for the first time. Wherever you're starting from, this is a place to grow.

Our hope is simple. That you'd find the same faith and community that changed us, and carry it the rest of your life, into whatever city you land in next.

Meet the Pastor

Will Sam is the pastor of Catalyst Church Austin. He and his wife Andrea both went to college at UC Berkeley, where they gave their lives to Christ and caught the vision of sharing the gospel with college students. They've served in various ministries at UC Berkeley, San Francisco, UC San Diego, University of Michigan and now, UT Austin. Here, their hope is that many students would personally know Jesus, and that their lives would be forever changed as theirs were in college.
